Sketch No_20051209Fri1821Steel City: Globe Works, SheffieldCitizens of this Steel City are proud of that their steel once held an important place in industrialised Europe, however, they don't know how to polish their steel to maintain this honour. They only found a uncreative way to memorise this part of history by set up a statue standing awkwardly in a shopping centre, according to Alan Williams in his thesis 'The Typology of Industrial Buildings with Reference to the Steel Trades in Sheffield, 1750-1900' Most of the manufacturers were abandoned and were left corrupted themselves. The Globe Works is one of the lucky few which is kept in good condition. File Shops and fender shops, chambers (1825, was 2 storeys) Grinding Rooms (1832, 3 storeys) House, Warehouse and cellars (1825, 2-3 storeys)
